Gracie Waynesville-NC: Young Grapplers bring home Medals from Georgia Grappling Tournament

A pair of young Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners from Waynesville’s Basulto Academy of Defense had a successful debut at the Rumble in the Mountains held September 24, 2011 at the Tom Boyd Arena in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The two young brothers, Walker White and Parx White competed in two different divisions of the tournament; the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu division, which requires use of the traditional gi uniform, and the “no-gi” division, in which the grapplers wore only a t-shirt and shorts.  The duo distinguished themselves in their respective matches, bringing home a Gold Medal and three Bronze Medals collectively.
Results:
- Parx White: Gold Medal in Children’s Jiu Jitsu and Bronze Medal Children’s No-Gi 49.9 lbs. & under
- Walker White: Bronze Medal in Children’s Jiu Jitsu and Bronze Medal Children’s No-Gi 80 lbs. to 89.9 lbs

Congratulations to Parx and Walker on their performance and to Professor Armando Basulto's diligent work with his “Young Warriors Jiu Jitsu” program.
